Ein Abenteuer mit KI fertig stellen

KI kann mir das Schreiben von Abenteuern definitiv nicht abnehmen - aber sie kann Ideen anreichern und meine eigene Fantasie anregen.

Once more onto the breach!

I did like WriteFreely in general, but there were a few drawbacks: * Very limited layout * no comment functionality at all * not really a good support for displaying tags * and a some minor quibbles Over the weekend, I finally got Ghost to work properly, and the Discourse integration to boot. My journey to Write Freely

Ok, story time kids. Once upon a time, I decided I needed a blog. That time was 1996 or so, and I hosted it on whatever I could, posting whatever came through my mind. The whole thing moved from hand coded html to hand coded active server pages, to hand

Obsidian as static site generator for my roleplaying game

For a while now, I've been tinkering with my own roleplaying game, Raiders of Arismyth. One of the things I realised early on was that I need a good way lookup rules and other information quickly. Find the proper tables, skill descriptions and so on, and to be

Self Descriptions made Easy

I have a "Manual of Me" in my professional e-Mail signature for a while now. That describes when and how to reach me, and how I communicate or set tasks. What it doesn't do in depth or any detail is describing what I'm

My 3D printer wishlist

3D printing things is one of my hobbies. And while I am reasonably happy with the printer I currently have, there's always a new and shinier resin 3D printer around the corner. But they rarely manage to really excite me in the way that I actually want to

I have my own Mastodon instance now

One of the cool things of federated social media is that each instance can have their own rules and conventions. One of the bad things of federated social media is that each instance has their own rules and conventions. What do I mean? I started out on octodon.social and

Spam everyone and use your filters

For over two years now, polypoly is working as a remote-only company. Most of the time, this works well, but there are of course wrinkles and roadblocks. The major one is in how and where we communicate. We have all the tools: Email, Chat, a wiki, a ticket system,

Home Office - redux

About a year ago, I shared how my home office setup looked. It is now not only a year later, but I also moved back to Hamburg and moved everything into a combined office&hobby room. And with that, I also upgraded a few key features of the space.

Fitness and me

I'm your prototypical nerd, sports never came easy to me. Over my childhood and youth, various teachers and trainers tried to change that, but I was content being unsporty and reading books. Thankfully, my metabolism and various eating and movement habits formed in my youth prevented me from

Small-scale pods as moderation advantage

Yesterday, I had a lengthy discussion with a proponent of big centralised social media platforms. Not because they have a particular love for big companies, but because moderation is actually one of these issues that are hard to do right. The numbers I could find say that about 20% of

Online Interaction types - what is there, what do I look for?

While going through the Spreadsheet I created as a tool after writing the last blogpost here, I realized that what was completely obvious to me, isn't necessarily to others. Mostly because the whole argument about the details was mostly in my head. So, let's write it

Social Media, from a persons perspective

I do love participating in social media. It was around 1994 when MiGri introduced me to the world of BBSes, the Fido net and everything online. To be honest, I haven't regretted a single thing from that. At some point, I ran my own BBS, I joined Usenet,
